In writing a creative response of a story or article, we have to use that story or article as a point of an elaboration, extension, or enlargement. What response does the story evoke in you? What did you think when you read it? Does the story remind you of someone or somethink? Be creative. You have to read, think and write freely. Response in any form you like. Write a letter, pen a poem, describe a person, place, or experience, create a cartoon with captions, compose a song, write and perform in a play, construct a collage, write whatever creative response comes to mind.

Here are some guidelines for reading for a creative response.

1. Read whole of the story and be sure that you understand about it before responding.
2. Reflect on the meaning of the story.
3. Look for aspects of the story that impress you or relate your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Here are some guidelines for writing a creative response.

1. Consider the meaning of the story and relate it to your life.
2. write freely and spontaneously, although your response should clearly relate in some way to the story.
3. Read other students responses to stimulate your thoughts, if you are having a hard time responding to a story or article.
4. Talk about the story to other students and reflect on the discussion and composition activities that follow the story.
5. Reread your response when it is completed. Make sure that it can be understood by someone elseif you decide to share your response.
